Paris is widely considered one of the most romantic cities in the world, and we have to agree. While Paris is not the cheapest city in the world, many of the greatest things to do in the city can easily be done for free or on a budget. These include romantic strolls along the Seine, picnicking in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, chatting at a sidewalk cafe, visiting the city’s world-class museums, tasting the delicious French food, window shopping, or taking a river sightseeing cruise. Some major attractions like the Notre Dame cathedral are free to visit.
The best way to save money in Paris is by planning ahead. If you want to visit a lot of the city’s museums and attractions, we recommend buying a Paris discount card such as the Paris Museum Pass which can save you a lot of money on attraction entry fees. Many museums also have free entry days so check ahead. To save money on accommodation, we recommend considering either a hotel a bit outside the center of the city or booking an apartment where you can cook to save money on meal costs. For transport, most of central Paris is easy to explore on foot and the public transportation system is not expensive (currently €1,90/trip).
You can stay in Paris with a budget of USD $100/person/day for a couple if you plan ahead. You can do it cheaper if you want to by doing things like staying in a hostel, limiting the number of paid attractions, eating street food, and cooking your own food. But just remember that a romantic holiday deserves a splurge or two in our opinion!
Viator is also having a 10% OFF sale on their one-day sightseeing tour that includes lunch.
Best Place to Stay: Le Monclair Montmartre by Hiphophostels is a great value starting at USD 72 per night for a double room with a private bath and USD 96 for a Family Room. It offers free wifi and parking for its amenities. Another great option for a great stay is the Nouvel Hotel Eiffel, a 3-star hotel that is 25 minute walk away from the Eiffel Tower, for USD 109.

Before traveling to this gorgeous corner of Italy with my boyfriend in 2017, I imagined it to be impossibly romantic and wondered how on earth it could live up to its glamorous, sensual reputation. And even if it did, would we really be able to capture the essence of the region on a tight budget?
Sorrento, Capri and the Amalfi Coast didn’t disappoint. Those jaw-dropping coastal views are free, and just as impressive from a seat for two on the public bus as they would be from a vintage convertible. Strolling through the narrow, winding and flower-filled lanes of Positano doesn’t cost a thing, and window-shopping in dripping-in-glamour Capri Town is open to everyone, regardless of budget.
Some of my favourite things to do weren’t quite free but also didn’t break the bank. For example, visiting ancient Pompeii from Sorrento costs less than 20€ each if you go on the train rather than taking an organised tour. Sharing an ice cream in front of Amalfi’s stunning cathedral costs just a couple of euros. On Capri, the blissful chairlift to the top of Monte Solaro costs 11€ return – the little café at the summit is the perfect location for a (surprisingly reasonably-priced) drink and the views across the island and the beautiful turquoise sea just can’t be beaten.
If you’ve got the budget for luxurious clifftop hotels, Capri’s unique stretch-open-top taxis and gourmet dinners, then Sorrento, Capri and the Amalfi Coast make a fabulously glamorous romantic break. But even if you don’t, there’s still plenty here for you and your love.

Perhaps is that we visited this Southern Spanish region as a couple? Was the weather simply perfect in January? Did we have luck with the itinerary we planned for our Andalusian road trip? Maybe the affordable prices everywhere and lack of crowds helped us to connect more with each other in great accommodation spots? Is there a special charm to cities like Seville, Granada, and Cadiz that were touched by great civilizations that gave their buildings a unique and fascinating Arab feel?
Speechless about how beautiful this land is, I can only ensure you that it is difficult to find a more dreamy destination to explore with your significant other on a budget. Enjoy!
Best Place to Stay: Monte Triana is a 4-star hotel in Seville’s city center with rates starting at USD 93 per night with free wifi. Vincci Albayzín in Granada is a beautiful 4-star hotel that is nearby tourist spots and is praised for its good restaurant. Vincci’s rates start at USD 79 per night.

Budapest is one of our favorite cities in the world for a reason: there’s no shortage of romance, history, beautiful architecture, or great deals to be had there.
Whether we are strolling across the Chain Bridge, watching the sunset over all of Budapest and the Danube River from the Citadel, exploring Central Market Hall (preferably with a langos in hand), going caving underneath the city, or enjoying the views from Fisherman’s Bastion, we always have an incredible time exploring Budapest together.
If you’re visiting Budapest with a partner, definitely don’t miss a visit to the thermal baths (Gellert and Szechenyi are the most popular), and even consider adding on a couple’s massage if you’re feeling decadent. Try riding the Budapest Eye for great views of the city, and visiting one of the ruin pubs for a very memorable place to grab a drink!
Budapest can be visited on any number of budgets, but for a romantic getaway, we’d recommend splurging just a little bit! A budget of $50/person/day can easily get you a beautiful Airbnb, about half your meals out, and some splurges on adventures around the city.”

Best Place to Stay: Danubius Hotel Astoria is a 4-star luxury hotel centrally located in Budapest’s city with good reviews for its food, location and decor. The rates start at USD 65 per night with free wifi. K+K Hotel Opera Budapest is another beautiful 4-star luxury hotel that is loved by guests because of its good location. You can book a room at K+K Hotel Opera from USD 79 per night. Another great way to save money is to rent a unit from the Mango Aparthotel and Spa which starts at USD 49 per night.

If you aren’t hearts and flowers couple but still want to enjoy a nice weekend out, just the pair of you, then Whitby and surrounding area in North Yorkshire is perfect for you. Have you heard of Bram Stoker’s horror novel ‘Dracula’? Then your first stop must be a seaside town, Whitby because ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey was his inspiration for the novel. In summer there is also an outdoor performance of the play which is absolutely hilarious. But that is not all. You can go on a boat trip which will take you out into the open sea and you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area.
Next day, with a belly, stuffed with hearty English breakfast head to Scarborough. Enjoy a lovely beach walk, admire beautiful lighthouse or discover past during your visit to Scarborough castle.
Have you got time to spare and want to go for an exhilarating walk? Visit Raby Castle, a 14th-century fortress with stunning grounds and deer park.
North Yorkshire has so many interesting places to visit that my list could go on and on. Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Historic York… As you can see, England is not all about London!
If you are flying to England then you can land on Liverpool, Manchester and Doncaster Sheffield airport. Hiring a small car for a couple of days will cost you under £25.

Hermanus is a peaceful and scenic seaside town located along the southern coast of South Africa. Famous for whale sightings during their annual migration, this town is ideal for a quiet and affordable romantic getaway.
For starters, there lots to do as a couple. Adventure-seekers can hike up the mountains nearby together, or explore the many hidden sea caves in the area. For a more relaxing retreat, go for long romantic walks along the well-maintained cliff path during sunset. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a school of whales in the distance!
In the evenings, visit one of the many cafes and restaurants in town for a romantic dinner. Afterwards, head out of town and find a nice spot to stargaze, while listening to the calming sound of distant ocean waves all along the coastline.
Accommodation and living expenses in South Africa is relatively affordable, and a US$50 daily budget is more than enough to get around. Activities like whale watching tours, horseback riding and guided hikes will cost more, so set aside USD 100 to USD 200 if you’d like to participate in some of them. Nevertheless, spending time with your loved one in Hermanus won’t burn a hole through your pocket.

If you think this honeymoon destination is only for the rich and famous you are wrong! Flying to Seychelles might be a little pricier than other destinations, but once on the island you can make it as expensive as you want. You will find many guesthouses for around $60 per night and cheap local restaurants with great seafood for less than $10. Local transport is easy to use and super cheap and if you want to go for a drink at night you can find cheap beers in local bars, but its even better if you get your cold beer in the super market and sit on a deserted beach watching the amazing sunset.
Use local boats for island hopping and let them drop you at completely deserted and picture perfect beaches. Hiking along the coastline is free and some viewpoints have amazing views over the bays down below. Trust me you will love Seychelles, even on a budget!
