Our family was headed to Schaumburg in Illinois for a surprise birthday treat to the Legoland Discovery Center. My eldest son just turned 4.
Being fans of pasta and pizza, we planned to get lunch at an Italian chain called Maggiano’s Little Italy located in The Streets of Woodfield.
Getting There
It was a 2 hour road trip from our hometown South Bend in Indiana. We arrived in Schaumburg, a northwest suburban village of Chicago, Illinois, just in time for lunch.
A few minutes drive away from our hotel and south of Woodfield Mall, is Maggiano’s Little Italy.
Getting In
Maggiano’s had a lot of space for parking. Aside from that, the Italian restaurant also had valet parking available. Helpful and convenient during busier hours and more patrons are coming in.

There was a reception desk right by the bar and near the staircase to their function halls. The restaurant was just opening for the day and we were the first to be welcomed in.
The Atmosphere
Maggiano’s has a semi-upscale vibe. The ambience is relaxing yet not slacking. Perfect for grabbing a meal with the family after shopping around Woodfield Mall or the other attractions in Schaumburg.

The main dining room had a lot of tables and seats available. It was pretty roomy too. Even our booth was very spacious.

The Menu
Maggiano’s Little Italy is a restaurant chain that serves Italian fare and has family-style dishes. Their “Today and Tomorrow Pasta” promo deal is what attracted us to eat lunch here.

The promo involves ordering a pasta and they would give you another pasta to take home as a meal for tomorrow. Great way to save money. Dinner is covered! This worked very well for us as we were traveling with our 80-year old grandmother. She can’t go out later in the day for dinner while she is hooked to her dialysis machine in the hotel.
Eating Time

Bread starter in Maggiano’s Little Italy, Schaumburg, IL
While munching on our bread as a starter, we told the adults where we we will be heading to next after lunch. We kept it a secret from everyone because grandparents almost always spill the surprise to the kids! Andy still did not know about Legoland Schaumburg. He went for a tour around the restaurant with me while Dad discussed the plans.
Not too long of a wait, our meals arrived.

Grandma and Granny shared the Linguini with Clams. It was a good meal to split because the serving was huge. The linguini dish was very savory and is a great choice for those who want seafood.

My husband loves pizza. However, he ordered his second go-to Italian food, Baked Ravioli. He loved it very much that he ordered it again as his tomorrow pasta.

Meanwhile, I had the Chicken Francese, which I think was half a chicken in size. The lemon butter sauce was very yummy that I scraped my plate clean with the bread. It also came with potatoes. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal.

My son chose the Grilled Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. He loved it and he’s a picky eater, as many kids of his age are. Even if he played with it, he still ate it.

Meals for kids are available. My son had the Grilled Chicken.
Bottomline
Maggiano’s Little Italy is a great choice for the family when you’re in Schaumburg, Illinois. Whether it’s for a casual lunch or for celebrating milestones with your favorite set of people in one of their banquet halls, Maggiano’s does not disappoint with their serving size, price and even service. We recommend that you try them next time you’re north of Chicago.
